Aromasin is used in the treatment of breast cancer. In many cases female sex hormone Estrogen is responsible for the growth of a breast cancer. These types of breast cancers are called Estrogen receptor-positive (ER positive) breast cancer. Exemestane is an oral steroidal aromatase inhibitor. It acts as a false substrate for the aromatase enzyme. It eternally binds to the enzymes, preventing them from converting androgen into estrogen. If cancer is progressed even after radiation, surgery or other cancer medications, then there is needed to use Aromasin in such conditions.

Dose of Aromasin is 25mg tablet once daily after a meal.

Less common side effects of Aromasin include:
Bone pain, Increased sweating, High blood pressure, Hair thinning, Vision problems, Nausea, Fatigue, Abdominal pain, Insomnia, Chest pain, Feeling short of breath.
Over Dose of Aromasin:
If you take too much Aromasin, consult your doctor or local Poison Control Center or seek emergency medical attention right away.
Precautions for Aromasin:
Do not take Aromasin if you are allergic to it or anything of its inactive ingredients.
Do not take medicine if you are having past medical history of high blood fats, stroke or blood clots, bone problems, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney problems and liver problems.
There are some unwanted effects of this drug like dizziness and tiredness, so you are advised not to drive, use machinery and do any activity that requires alertness until you are sure you can perform such activities safely.
In case you missed any dose of Aromasin:
If you forget to take your dose of Aromasin, you may be able to take the missed dose when you remember, or you may need to miss it out completely. Don't take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

There are some drugs which may interact with Aromasin:
Medicines with estrogen, such as Premarin, other hormone replacement therapy, or birth control pills or patches.

St. John's wort
Contraindications for Aromasin:
Do not take hormone replacement therapy while you are having Aromasin treatment.
Do not take Aromasin in pregnancy.
Do not breastfeed during the treatment of Aromasin because the drug may come through in the breast milk.
Aromasin should be kept at a temperature of 25 degree C. Store away from moisture, light and heat. Keep out of the reach of the children.
