Ocuflox is a medication used for bacterial infection. This medication is very helpful for the eye problems particularly infections like conjunctivitis caused by bacteria (Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). It is also used in corneal ulcers caused by bacteria like Serratia marcescens, Staphylococcus epidermidis etc
Ofloxacin works by stopping the function of bacterial enzyme. It happens by bacterial death caused by the end of DNA replication which causes damage of the bacterial DNA.
Uses of Ofloxacin Eye Drop:
Ofloxacin is an ophthalmic medication that is prescribed to manage glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
How to use:
Open your eyes and apply the eye drop over the eyes.
Dosage varies depending on the condition of the eye:
In bacterial conjunctivitis:
1-2 drops of the solution should be applied in affected eye in every 2-4 hours for initial 2 days. It should be followed by 1-2 drops in every four eyes for the next 3-7 days.
In bacterial corneal ulcer:
1-2 drops of Ofloxacin eye drop should be applied in the affected eye in every 30minutes for the starting two days, then apply 1-2 drops for next 3-7 days.
A missed dose can be applied as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if you remember it near the next schedule of time.
Do not take an overdose. Flush the eyes with water and call your health care provider if you take an overdose.

Burning sensation of the eyes
Stinging or irritation in the eyes
Blurring of vision
Oedema of eyelid
Sensitivity to the light
Call your doctor at once if you catch any other symptoms which become bothersome for you.
Precautions and Contraindications:
Ofloxacin, like other medication should be used with some precautions. Some of the very important and contra-indications of this medication are:
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to any ingredient of this medication.
Always use this eye medication at least 15 minutes after removal of your eye make-up, contact lens etc.
Do not touch the tip of the bottle of the medication.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Children under the age of 2 years should not be prescribed this medication.
Dispose the medication if you feel that the medication is contaminated with any dispersed particles.
