Etoricoxib is one of a group of medicines called selective COX-2 inhibitors. It works by blocking the production of some of the body chemicals that cause inflammation, pain, stiffness, tenderness, swelling and increased temperature.
The recommended dosage is 60 to 120mg once a day. It can be taken by mouth with or without food.
How to use:
The dose should be taken once each day. Four strengths of tablet 30mg, 60mg, 90mg and 120mg are available. People having osteoarthritis are prescribed 30mg or 60mg daily. If Etoricoxib is being taken for gout or following dental surgery, 120mg daily for up to eight days is being taken for gout and 90mg daily for upto three days after dental surgery. The tablet should be taken with a drink of water.
Some of the possible precautions to be taken while using this drug are:
Have a history of stomach bleeding or ulcers.
Have swelling due to fluid retention.
Have a history of heart failure, have a history of high blood pressure problems.
If the person has high cholesterol problems.
It helps to reduce the pain and swelling in the joints and muscles of people with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and gout.
It helps in the treatment of moderate pain after dental surgery.
It helps to treat gout attacks.
It helps to relieve short term pain, including cramp-like pain or discomfort before or during a menstrual period or pain associated with minor dental procedures.

Drug interactions occur when this medication is taken with another drug or with food. Before the medication is taken for a particular ailment, the health expert should be informed about intake of any other medications including non-prescription medications, over the counter medicines.
The use of this drug is strictly contraindicated to the following conditions:
If the female is trying for a baby.
If the person is allergic or sensitive to the ingredients of the medication.
If the woman is under breast feeding condition.
If the woman is pregnant.
If the person is suffering from dehydration.
If the person is having any kidney, liver problems.
If the person is having heart problems, peptic ulcers or having edema.
Some of the possible side effects shown by this medication are as follows:
Stomach pain, diarrhea, feeling dizzy, flatulence, gastritis, headaches, mouth ulcers, indigestion
Constipation, Swollen ankles, fluid retention, headache.
Overdosing should not be taken. In case if overdosing symptoms occurs, visit to the nearest hospital immediately.
The missed dose should be taken as soon as get remember. But if the time of next dose has been achieved, the missed does is skipped and the regular dosing schedule is followed.
The medication should be stored properly at room temperature. It should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
